About

This summer our Welcome Space hosts the wonderful Take One Picture exhibition, filled with the children’s work from across the UK who took inspiration from the Canaletto painting, A Regatta on the Grand Canal.

Everyday of the holidays there will be self-led activities which invite you to explore the exhibition, design your own gondola, imagine what’s beneath the waters and be part of the celebration that is happening in the painting. Collect creative ideas and take a souvenir from Venice home with you.

The self-led playboxes have received a Venice-style twist and the dress-up play has some extra elements of carnival, as well as a new playbox with an ‘almost’ life-size gondola to decorate and play in.

On our programmed event days, we will have pop-up story sessions in the boat and surprise appearances from a Venetian gondolier to help you steer down the narrow canals.

Every day the easels are up and the table set for drawing.

Before you go inside the Gallery to see the paintings, you can leave your buggy in the buggy park. We also have lockers, baby changing facilities and a Changing Places toilet.
